Delmon University announced in
a recent signing ceremony its participation in Tamkeen’s Bahraini
University Graduates Employment Programme. The project aims to place
1305 Bahraini University graduates in career development opportunities in
the private sector.
The agreement was signed by
Hussain Ally, Delmon University’s Vice President and Tamkeen’s Chief
Executive Abdulellah Al Qassimi at Tamkeen premises.
Two Bahraini graduates have
joined Delmon University under the scheme and talks are continuing for the
addition of more candidates.
The scheme offers private
sector establishments BD 7,000 financial support for every Bahraini
university graduates on Tamkeen’s list, recruited by private sector
establishments.
The programme requires
employers to pay the recruited graduate a basic salary of BD 400. Tamkeen
will offer the employers a salary subsidy of up to BD 6000 and a functional
training subsidy of BD 1000 over two years for every Bahraini graduate
recruited from its list. Companies participating in the programme can also
avail from a wide array of training schemes designed and funded by Tamkeen.
As project managers Ernst &
Young are responsible to provide support to both graduates and employers for
two years including coaching and mentoring in addition to monitoring the
graduates’ progress.
“Delmon University ensures
that this positive step taken by Tamkeen will help support our Bahraini
workforce to a more prosperous and brighter future that will further
strengthen our Bahraini labour market. Hoping that our contribution will
help promote the employment of our fellow Bahrain citizens within the
private sector and build more confidence within our local market,” said
Mr. Hussain Ally.
Mr. Al Qassimi
confirmed that Delmon University’s participation in the employment programme
illustrates a great deal of responsibility and support for such national
programmes that promote the growth and prosperity of the Kingdom. “We at
Tamkeen are glad to work with such a sound establishment and hope to support
the University and the Bahrainis through the many training programmes that
we provide.”
The Bahraini University
Graduates Programme Project Manager, Ernst & Young, Samer Ajjawi
described the scheme as beneficial for all the stakeholders: Graduates,
Employers, Tamkeen and Bahrain. “It’s a win-win model for everyone. The
project helps to enhance the capabilities of Bahrainis and prepare them for
a dynamic work environment, provides a qualified workforce to organisations
and for the country it contributes to the development of the citizens, the
Kingdom’s true wealth.”
